International Women’s Day is more than just a date on the calendar; it’s a celebration of resilience, achievements, and the strong spirit of women worldwide. This year’s theme, “Inspire Inclusion,” serves as a call to action, encouraging us to envision and actively work towards a world where every woman is not only acknowledged but genuinely empowered. At MeridianLink®, our commitment to inclusion is exemplified through initiatives like our Women in Tech Industry (WITI) Employee Resource Group (ERG). This ERG stands as a testament to our dedication to fostering professional development and personal growth in an inclusive, supportive environment that celebrates the unique contributions of women in both the workplace and communities.
Today, we pay tribute to the strides made, applaud those who have propelled us forward, and acknowledge the work that lies ahead.
Reflecting on Progress
Since its inception, International Women’s Day has embodied values such as justice, dignity, hope, equality, collaboration, tenacity, appreciation, respect, empathy, and forgiveness. These principles have been the bedrock of a movement that challenged societal norms, shattered glass ceilings, and paved the way for future generations of women to thrive.
Women across the globe have achieved remarkable milestones in diverse fields, from science and technology to politics and the arts. Their contributions not only enriched their respective domains but also inspired generations to come. Looking back, we honor the trailblazers who fought for equality and defied stereotypes.
Women In Technology
According to The WomenTech Network, women held 35% of tech jobs in the U.S. by the end of 2023, a noteworthy advancement from the 9% in the early 2000s. This increased inclusion within the industry fosters creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration—essential elements for true advancement and innovation.
And although there’s plenty of room for improvement, the widening door of opportunity signifies progress, offering women more options to explore and forge paths to success. This International Women’s Day, we thank these influential women in tech for their invaluable contributions to the progress seen and the ongoing work that lies ahead.
Shaping Future Generations
One of the most impactful ways to celebrate International Women’s Day is to inspire the next generation of women. Visibility matters, and when young girls see successful women doing what they love, it breaks down stereotypes and dispels the notion that certain fields are exclusively for one gender. By showcasing diverse role models and providing mentorship and support, we empower young girls to dream big and pursue their passions without limitations. In this future, women can thrive in any field they choose, and every individual can contribute their unique talents to the betterment of society
Christina Broock, Advocate for MeridianLink’s Women in Tech Industry ERG, shares her perspective.
“Empowering women to reach their fullest potential is not just a goal, but a passion. Together with my fellow WITI leaders and members, we are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that celebrates our unique contributions to the workplace and beyond. Partnering with my colleagues in this capacity is rewarding and I am thankful that I get to be a part of it. Together, we are able to collaborate, brainstorm ideas, and support each other in achieving our shared goals. It truly feels like we are a team working towards a common purpose, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such talented and dedicated individuals.”
International Women’s Day is a reminder of the progress we’ve made and the journey that lies ahead. As we celebrate the achievements of women throughout history, let’s also commit to shaping a future where inclusion is not just a theme but a lived reality for all.
