MeridianLink® Partners with Anaheim’s Innovative Mentoring Experience (AIME) to Promote Technology Career Understanding for High School Students

Company teaches students about careers in technology and finance
Date: Nov 03, 2017 | Location: Costa Mesa

MeridianLink®, developer of the financial industry's first, multi-channel loan and new account origination platform, is partnering with Anaheim’s Innovative Mentoring Experience (AIME) to introduce high school students to careers in technology and finance.

Juniors from the Anaheim Union High School District met at the firm’s Costa Mesa headquarters with MeridianLink staff who wanted to make a difference in the lives of at-risk young people. The mentors worked with small groups of students, engaging them in career exploration activities and teaching concepts of financial literacy.

The day’s full agenda was designed so students could gain an understanding of various aspects of life at a financial technology company. After a brief company overview, including descriptions of MeridianLink’s mission, vision, and core values, representatives provided a window into their daily schedules, their job experiences from high school to today, their career trajectories, and the requirements of their current positions.

In addition, MeridianLink’s human resources staff explored career opportunities with the students, including tips on resumes and job interviewing. After a building tour, students were treated to a presentation on financial literacy as it relates to loans and credit, along with a virtual, car loan approval activity. Students were also able to mix business with pleasure while enjoying a delicious catered meal with their mentors.

“We are grateful to MeridianLink for investing in the futures of our students, many of whom are from low-income households and would otherwise never have an opportunity to interact with successful corporate mentors,” said Anaheim Union Superintendent Michael Matsuda. “We look forward to expanding our partnership with MeridianLink for summer intern jobs.”

“Orange County is becoming a technology hub and needs a highly skilled, highly educated workforce,” said Tim Nguyen, CEO of MeridianLink. “As a local company, we have a responsibility to serve our community by helping prepare students for the next steps of their lives and careers.”
