More Americans Considering Home Equity Loans in 2023, According to MeridianLink^® Survey

This report analyzes data from a survey conducted by MeridianLink^® of more than 1,000 American adults. Respondents were asked if they took out a home equity loan in the past 12 months, if they were likely to take out a home equity loan in the next 12 months, and to rate their understanding of how home equity loans work.

Key findings include:

• Only 8% of respondents reported taking out a home equity loan in 2022, while 21% say they’re likely to take out a home equity loan in the next 12 months
• Slightly more than half of respondents (52%) reported a strong understanding of how home equity loans work
